Caring without Carrying

flower with heart

It doesn’t take morning news, or news at all, to know the struggles going on in our world. I Know. I feel them. Do you?

For some of us, it’s about turning off the news and tuning into ourselves; our energy and emotions. We need to balance compassion and empathy . . . what I call the difference between caring and carrying. I tend to be hypersensitive to energy and environment so I need to be centered in my own body and aware of what is mine and what is theirs and yes, what is ours. Universal emotions are real and we pick up on them all the time. Have you experienced this?

If you think this might be happening, do this check-in with yourself:

  • Sit with both feet on the floor and legs shoulder-width apart.
  • Take 3 deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  • Tune into your heart and then any area of your body calling for attention. Consciously feel each area of tension, anxiety, tightness, one by one, and ask: 1) What do you want me to know? 2) What do you want me to do? 3) What’s it going to take for you to ease up/heal? Take time to listen and align thoughts, words and actions with info you got. Your energy and emotions will follow.

Next week I will talk about how to handle those times when we feel an emotion suddenly and shockingly; like one moment you’re fine and the next you’re drastically different. It’s important to know how to deal with emotions. I hope the information above helps.

Here to hear you and to help you hear yourself,

Life Speaks via Dreams

I dreamed of a garden with hidden treasures…huge stones and shells tucked behind plants … remnants of travels across the globe… long abandoned and forgotten by the owner … a woman who had worked with wild animals and at fine museums… artifacts were gathered from earth and sea adventures and somehow brought home despite their massive size … only later she left the loves for reasons unknown.

Oh how I excavated those treasures all night long and upon awakening wrote pages about their stories. This will resonate for a while.

Grateful for sleep time signs. Do you remember the stories your sleep shared last night? Want to share?

May they resonate with healing and goodness.

Here to help you interpret dreams and the signs that life is always sharing. Here to hear you and to help you hear yourself.

Birdbath Disaster or Not: What To Do When Life Messes Upo

Greg’s parents gave us an old birdbath. I like its sturdy build. Peeling paint calls for a sprucing up. I showed Greg the Satin Lilac paint I was pondering. To my surprise, he suggested Gloss Grape. Bold and bright! He still surprises me. When I moved in with him 5 years ago the primary color in the house was black but slowly he has revealed he likes bright colors. I do too.

To make a long project short, we stripped the peeling paint. We tried to get it back to its original galvanized steel so it would be better for the bathing birds. We couldn’t so Gloss Grape it will be. I picked blue for the bird; green for the stem; and pink for the flower so imagine my surprise when I went to the garage this morning and found this!

Greg is helpful and decided to paint the top parts . . . perhaps to surprise me and possibly because I tend to be messier than him when it comes to painting. He just forgot they weren’t supposed to be purple! Ugh. Now what?

When life messes up our plans, what do we do? Get mad? Get sad? We need to feel whatever we feel but then . . . do our best to choose the High Road.

I paused to take it all in. I wondered about his intention. I thought about how important it was for top parts to not be purple. I pondered the best way to talk with him about it. When I got clear, I texted him ‘Hi! When did you paint top parts of birdbath?’ He immediately texted back ‘Yesterday. Are they all supposed to be purple or not?’ I love him. Then a text reminding him of colors I wanted and a ‘purple will be fine though if we can’t cover it.’ He assured me we could paint them the colors I wanted and that was that.

To Ponder this Week:

Life is about moving forward; not getting stuck. It’s about getting real about what’s really important. It’s about giving energy to that which we want to have grow and not giving energy to that which we don’t want to have grow. If life gives you messiness this week, pause and try these:

  • Get clear on the ‘why’ behind your want.
  • Ponder people’s intentions and do your best to give them the benefit of the doubt.
  • Only give energy to that which you want to have grow.
  • Move forward on the High Road and trust Life.

Update!

Yay to finished birdbath project!!

What’s the Hurry?

The morning light casts itself upon the day. As I sit on the covered front porch and watch the hurried world drive by, I wonder ‘what’s the hurry?’

Oh yeah, I remember the need for speed from back in the day when I knew one pace … fast. Then the farmer came showing me how to balance it all out by living in alignment with the cycles of earth … fast, slow, fast, slow in an integrated speed up, slow down pace.

My speed and busyness seemed important, even critical. In hindsight, I know it was about my identity of efficiency, productivity, and worth. It was about self-importance.

I’m in charge of my own schedule now so the crazy busyness could be over. Yet sometimes I struggle to fully embrace the balanced pace and overbook, overcommit, overextend. Do you ever do that?

If so, try these affirmations:

I embrace my true pace.

I enjoy wiggle room in my days.

AND

I like to be efficient and productive.

Imagine living with efficiency and wiggle room in balance. Let me know how it goes.
